Earlier Life ( Before he became a famous Innovator):
Before Thomas Edison got famous by creating all sorts of innovations, his life had to start somewhere. At age 11, his mother home schooled him due to the fact that he was "difficult" to his teachers. Meanwhile, at that age he gained a thirst for knowledge by reading numerous books, helping him in the near future as an inventor. Then at age 12, he got a job of selling newspapers at a railroad. Their he done chemical experiments, which one of them did not go too well. After many more years, Thomas created his first innovation, an improved stock ticker. In the 1870s he then moved his research laboratory to New Jersey. Their he became a little more known and started creating more inentions. Thus, Thomas Ediosn's career has begin and all of the years behind him led to the event of being an innovator.
Inventions:
The Light Bulb
The light bulb was created by Thomas Edison in 1879 and then later in 1880. These incandescent light bulbs 'light' the way to our modern days, since we use lights for many purposes. The Motion Picture Projector
The motion picture projector was invented by Thomas Edison and a man named Dickson. Dickson helped design the camera with his knowledge of photography.
Fun Fact: Motion Picture Studio was made in West Orange, New Jersey. His idea was that the motion could be captured by having one camera that would take repeated pictures at high speed and a new celluloid film developed by George Eastman. Did you know?: The motion camera was also know as the kinetoscope. To Edison's mind, motion pictures would do for the mind what the phonograph did for the ear. Video of Thomas Edison |
The Phonograph
The phonograph was also invented by Thomas Edison in 1877. It was used to record sounds and music. This was the "bass"(base) of our music recording devices today. The phonograph had 2 needles: one for recording and one for playback. Fun Fact: Mary had a Little Lamb were the 1st words he spoke in it. Did you know?: In 1878, he established speaking phonograph company. How Helpful!: Some of the phonographs uses were family recordings of phonographic books for blind people. And much more...!!! This was his favorite invention. |
This video describes Thomas Edison's failures. I know it sounds odd, but Thomas Edison did at least once his inventions were not successful. One of his inventions that weren't efficient is the talking doll. As described in the video, the doll was too fragile to play with and it the phonograph inside it only played a few times before it stopped working completely. As one can see, not only Edison created successful inventions, he also failed a few times.
